October 2013 meeting: Planning for 2014

Brunetti smiled as at the hearing of truth, already known, universally acknowledged (from Donna Leon’s Drawing Conclusions)

JASACT members decided in October that it would be a good time to review our own truths and develop a plan for 2014. After a good discussion we came up with some ideas which we will divulge via this blog as we put them into place. In the meantime though, we also decided that, having enjoyed our discussion this year of emotions in Jane Austen’s novels, our major focus for 2014 could be roles in the novels, such as Servants, Clergy, Military. We will also complete our discussion of her letters, by looking at the last letters she wrote, and consider discussing one of the books that she read and enjoyed. Sir Charles Grandison has been suggested but we rather baulk at its length … negotiations are continuing!

Please keep an eye on the Meeting Schedule box in the right sidebar in this blog for meeting themes and any other ad hoc events that might come up.

Our Christmas/Jane Austen birthday lunch this year will be at the Poachers Pantry where we hope, weather permitting, to enjoy their lovely outdoor dining area.
